60 of the 120 Hereford bulls, are low birth-weight Hereford bulls.
More than 350 bulls will feature in one of the country’s most anticipated dairy bull sales in September 2022.
Traditionally the annual BullsEye Sale at Huntly attracted a good number of dairy farmers from the greater Waikato region but, thanks to online bidding, the quality offering is now within the grasp of farmers across the North Island.
The BullsEye Sale has built a reputation as ‘the place’ to buy top quality Hereford, Angus, Red Devon, Murray Grey, Jersey and Friesian Cross service bulls.
Bill Sweeney, NZ Farmers’ Livestock General Manager said “the bulls come from renowned studs with years of breeding behind them.
“The autumn of 2022 was tough for most farmers but you wouldn’t know it looking at the bulls which will come forward at this year’s sale – our vendors, David and Fiona McKenzie, have done a superb job growing these bulls and they will come forward in great condition.
“There’s a bull here for every dairy farmer – no matter what their breed preference is – from well-marked Herefords through to Jersey and recorded Friesian Cross bulls.
“Of particular interest to many farmers are 60, of the 120 Hereford bulls, are low birth-weight Hereford bulls.
”All the bulls have exceptional temperament and this – along with fertility and soundness - is one of the biggest concerns for dairy farmers. Service bulls are a necessity on most dairy farms but they introduce a new dynamic – one capable of breaking fences and going through gates. The bulls that David and Fiona MacKenzie bring forward are quiet, used to being handled and will fit in well on any dairy farm.
“All bulls are health tested for M.bovis, TB and double inoculated for BVD.
“David and Fiona MacKenzie stand behind their bulls and if there is an issue with a bull before or on delivery, the bull can be replaced or fully refunded.
“Another significant advantage for farmers buying bulls at the sale is that they have until 1 November 2022 to take delivery – the vendors providing free grazing for the intervening weeks.”
Farmers wishing to view and/or bid at the NZ Farmers Livestock auction can either attend the sale or bid in real time on the MyLiveStock online auction platform.
